Festa del Redentore 2026 in Venice: fireworks, tradition and a stay on the Lido

10/07/2026

The Festa del Redentore 2026 is one of the most iconic events of the Venetian summer and will take place on the weekend of 18 and 19 July 2026. It is a celebration deeply connected to the history of Venice, created as a thanksgiving for the end of the plague of 1577 and today considered one of the most spectacular nights in the lagoon.

The most anticipated moment is Saturday evening, when the St. Mark’s Basin fills with decorated boats and the lagoon becomes the stage for the Redentore fireworks. Beginning around 11:30 pm, the show lights up Venice, with breathtaking reflections dancing on the water.

Throughout the weekend, visitors experience a unique atmosphere: the temporary votive bridge connects the Zattere waterfront to the Church of the Redentore on Giudecca, allowing the traditional walk to the basilica, while Sunday is dedicated to regattas and religious celebrations.

On Saturday evening, thousands of people gather along the waterfront, on boats, and on terraces to dine in the lagoon and wait for the fireworks display — one of the most beloved Venetian traditions.

Staying at Hotel Giardinetto on Venice Lido allows guests to experience the Redentore with maximum comfort: just minutes away from the heart of the celebrations, yet in a quieter area where they can easily return after the event without the stress of the crowds.

From the Lido, reaching St. Mark’s Basin by vaporetto or water taxi is simple, offering a privileged perspective of the celebration while immersed in the unique atmosphere of the lagoon.

We can also help guests organise the perfect evening, from transfers to the best viewing spots, allowing them to experience the Redentore like a true Venetian.
