The Lido by bicycle: scenic routes and unmissable stops near the hotel

15/03/2026

Exploring the Lido by bicycle is one of the most beautiful ways to truly experience its atmosphere. The island is long, flat, easy to navigate, and rich in rapidly changing landscapes: one moment you’re overlooking the lagoon, the next you’re riding past dunes, fishermen’s huts, or streets lined with Liberty-style villas.

From Hotel Giardinetto, you can easily rent a bike and head south.
The first stop worth visiting is Malamocco, perhaps the most charming of the Lido’s historic corners. It’s a small ancient village, full of quiet calli, intimate squares, and traditional houses. Cycling here is a pleasure: the road is calm, surrounded by the lagoon and nature, and arriving gives the feeling of stepping into a small Venice of bygone times—but without the crowds. It’s the perfect place for a break, a scenic photo, or a coffee with a view.

Continuing further south, the bike path leads to the large natural area of Alberoni, one of the most picturesque spots on the Lido. The route along the lagoon is simple and flat, immersed in the tranquility of the island, among maritime pines and the scent of salt air. As you approach Alberoni, the atmosphere changes: everything becomes wilder, more open, more natural.

Once there, you can choose to explore the dunes and the protected area, with their pristine landscapes, or continue your adventure further, all the way to the ferry that goes directly to Pellestrina.

From this point, the ferry departs and takes you to Pellestrina in just a few minutes, one of the most authentic and charming islands of the Venetian lagoon. Bringing your bike on board is easy, and stepping ashore means entering a world suspended in time.
A long, narrow island of low colorful houses, fishing nets drying in the sun, small boats moored along the shore, and a lifestyle still guided by the sea. Cycling along its single main road is an experience that combines silence, nature, and tradition. Every turn reveals a new view, every stop offers a moment of absolute peace.

The return to the Lido along the same bike path is equally pleasant: the setting sun over the lagoon, the fresh breeze, and the feeling of having crossed places unknown to many, yet unforgettable for those who visit.

Cycling between Lido, Malamocco, Alberoni, and Pellestrina lets you experience a less touristy Venice—one that smells of the sea and history, where everything flows slowly and authentically. Returning to Hotel Giardinetto after a day on two wheels, eyes full of landscapes and body pleasantly tired, is one of the small joys that make a stay on the island special.

If you love cycling, nature, and routes that tell a story, the Lido will win you over from the very first ride. Enjoy your cycling!
